My Muddy passed away on Tuesday 5/6/08. I'm sad, but am handling it well - too well I'm afraid. While everyone around me is sobbing, I'm stoic. I suppose I already said my goodbyes a long time ago. She was so old, in so much pain. I'm just grateful that she's in a better place now. With Mom.
I wrote about Muddy, and what she means to me here. Rest in peace, Muddy. I hope Mom was there to welcome you and you're both watching us from a porch glider up there. Drinking sweet tea.
And imagine, my Muddy passed on Tuesday, and my cousin gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday. When one life ends, another begins...

Muddy, Rest in Peace.

I’m not sure if you will even remember who I am – your old neighbor from Royerton Drive. We moved away the summer after the 2nd grade. You would have been finishing up the 5th grade that summer. My 20th reunion from Hermitage is coming up soon, so I’ve been looking on Classmates.com to see what everyone else was up to. I stumbled across your listing and saw your blog. I knew immediately that I had to check it out. Just seeing your name there brought back so many childhood memories – I couldn’t pass up the chance to see what you were up to.
I’m so sorry to hear about your grandmother. I remember when my Nannie left us a few years back and how I felt somewhat at ease when she had finally passed. I remember her asking me “why was it so hard to die?” After that conversation, I felt as if I had already said my good-bye so I didn’t need to cry for her.
I’m even more sorry to hear about your mom. I have great memories of hanging out at your house when we were kids and many of those memories involve your mother. I drank my first Dr. Pepper at your house and I remember all of the wine bottles sitting by the fireplace downstairs. I remember when your mom would sit outside and brush her hair. That always just amazed me how long it was. I even remember when the three of you went for a haircut. It even made the paper if I remember right. She was a sweet and lovely woman – I remember her just as she looks in the picture you have posted

Nicole!
Of course I remember you :) and emailed your comment to my sister. She'd love to hear about reunion plans, and still lives in our house on Royerton Drive if you can believe it.
I remember Barbie clothes exchange parties, and going to your house for Zingers. Throwing rocks at Keith :) Playing outside all summer until it got dark. Singing the old Smokey Robinson song "Shop Around" while pushing shopping carts. Singing "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.
So good to hear from you...thank you so much for those memories...
